Audio-Conference Meeting Attendance INFO & How-To

Audio Conference Attendance Information/Requirements:  

Members of the public will be able to attend the audio-conference Meeting via Zoom. You do NOT need to create a Zoom Account in order to attend the public meeting but you do need to download the App if you are using a mobile device. Click here to find that link for your appropriate device. It is a FREE download.

Once you've done that you'll be able to click on the posted link to the Meeting. The link to the Meeting will be posted on the District's website homepage ( www.barriere.ca ) at 6:45pm on Monday, April 6th, 2020 (just like the Council Chambers door opening at the Ridge before the start of the Meeting.) If you don't see the link appear after this time, try refreshing the page. Anytime from that point on you'll be able to click that link to join the public Meeting. Please remain muted until the Mayor opens up the meeting to public comments during various points in the Meeting at which time please use the 'Raise Hand' feature if you wish to speak. Once the Mayor calls your name, you will be un-muted and can ask your question or make your comment. As a reminder, just as in any formal Council Meeting setting, abusive language and outbursts will not be tolerated.  

Requirements: 
While you don't need to create a Zoom account, you will require: 
 - An internet connection via a smartphone device, tablet, laptop or personal computer (PC). 
 - If using a PC or laptop, ensure your device has speakers and a microphone.  Headphones with a headphone jack can be used, however, you will need to ensure that your headphones also have a microphone (many do) even if you don't plan on speaking.  If you do not have a microphone for your PC (most laptops have a microphone already installed), you will need to use another device in order to access the meeting.

To join the meeting from a laptop or PC: 
 - Click on the posted Meeting link
 - Click "Run" 
 - Select "Yes" to any permissions
 - Enter your name when prompted
 - Click "Join Meeting"
 - Click "Join w/Computer Audio" - (NO VIDEO)
 - Please remain muted until the Mayor opens up public comments during the meeting. 

To join the meeting from a mobile device (smartphone or tablet):  
- Ensure you've downloaded the Zoom App (via Google Play or Apple Store) 
- Ensure that you've granted the Zoom App permission to access your device's audio functions. This usually is done during the app download process but can also be done via your device's "Settings" >> "Apps" >> "App Permissions" >> "Zoom" >> "Allow Microphone/Audio Access". 
- Click on the posted Meeting link
- Enter your name when prompted
- Click "Join Meeting" 
- Click "via internet audio" - (NO VIDEO)
- Please remain muted until the Mayor opens up public comments during the meeting.
